You spend months developing a new project, program, or product. You work hard “perfecting” your strategy. But it’s stressful. To calm your nerves, you fine tune your approach through focus groups and market research. You feel confident that you’ve left no stone unturned.
Then you exhale, and, as Seth Godin says, “ship it.”
If your market prognostications come to fruition, then you feel good and share 👊 and 😊 will your peloton.
But if things are off target, the finger pointing begins and people start making stuff up. Your urge to tinker or shift gears grows stronger. You begin to wonder if you need to adjust your strategy, tweak your message, and develop a new tactic.
After all, you want others to know that you are doing everything possible. But trying to do everything often leaves us frantic.
In some cases, you don’t need to make a shift to realize success. Instead, the best choice is to focus on executing your plan and trusting the process.
Of course, it takes courage not to shift gears in pursuit of a quick fix.
Amateurs believe that making a shift is the only option. Professionals know that they have a choice.
Have fun storming the castle!
